Team Information and History

Not since Hall of Famer-to-be John Stockton was sporting his short shorts has Gonzaga basketball received so much attention. Actually, the Zags, led by head coach Mark Few, have risen to an entire new level. Gonzaga has gone from Cinderella story to perennial power in less than a decade. No longer is Gonzaga a feel-good college basketball story. Instead, Bulldog basketball is something that participants don’t want to see on their side of the bracket. The attention surrounding Gonzaga basketball is reaching new heights this season.

Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball tickets are going fast as this Northwest powerhouse continues to pack the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash. Fans are clamoring to get a look at 6-foot-8 junior forward Adam Morrison, the electric scorer who has reached rock-star status on his way to becoming a potential Player of the Year. It has been said that Morrison looks like former Doors lead singer Jim Morrison and plays like Larry Bird. His trademark 'stache' has been widely imitated.

But the Bulldogs wouldn't be the legitimate Final Four contender they are without a deep talent base surrounding Morrison. The "Brazilian Bull" J.P. Batista, a bruising 6-9 forward, is one of the leading scorers and rebounders in the West Coast Conference. He might be the best low post player in the nation. Throw in guard Sean Mallon, the first highly-recruited Spokane player to join the program in a decade, and you have the makings of a champion.

Gonzaga Bulldogs have been prized for years, going back to the days of John Stockton, but even more so now in the Morrison era. Head Coach Mark Few, now in his seventh year, has maintained the successful program he inherited from Dan Monson and taken it a step further. Gonzaga finished 10th in the final Associated Press poll of the 2004-05 after making its seventh straight Tournament trip.

Gonzaga won six conference tournaments in the past eight years, twice finishing as runner up. Under Few, the Bulldogs have become a dangerous tournament team that has reached the Sweet 16 twice and the second round three times. Since the bracket expanded, Few is one of only two coaches to lead a team to the Sweet 16 in his first two years as a head coach.

This year Few has ridden Morrison to a lofty ranking. The unstoppable scorer erupted for two 40-plus games in the non-conference schedule, and he hasn't let up. He could join Frank Burgess as a scoring champ from Gonzaga. With Morrison projected as a top five draft pick if he turns pro, there is no time to waste. Get your Gonzaga basketball tickets now.
