Baltimores Team Info

The Orioles will be starting with a clean slate. Buying Orioles tickets and heading to Oriole Park won’t entail the endless Sammy Sosa downward spiral or the eternal questions about Palmeiro banging steroids into his veins anymore. The distractions of the past few seasons have been removed. Now the question is what’s next for Baltimore Orioles fans and their team?

The Orioles will still have their pitching to keep them in contention in the AL East. Rodrigo Lopez is a quality starter, winning 15 games last year. He throws a 90+ mph fastball, a slider, and keeps batters on their toes with a changeup. Erik Bedard can also sling it in the 90’s and has a good curveball in his arsenal. Where will the Orioles get their hits? Well, Miguel Tejada, Brian Roberts, and Melvin Mora are coming back so the middle is in good shape. The Orioles will need Jay Gibbons and Javy Lopez to step up and fill the spots left vacant by Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro.  Lopez has had his problems staying healthy so the Orioles may be looking at him more as a DH than a regular. Insurance comes in the form of catcher Ramon Hernandez, who can fill in at Lopez’s spot if he’s moved over to DH duties.

It may be a bit much to expect Orioles to produce an AL East Championship, but they have proven their willingness to clean house and regroup for a run at the title very soon. Meanwhile, visitors to Oriole Park will get to enjoy some heated contests with the the rest of the AL East, and that makes tickets a bargain for Orioles baseball lovers anywhere.
