Pittsburgh Pirates Team Info

The Pirates have always been one of America’s favorite baseball teams. Maybe it was those sleeveless uniform shirts with the black and gold colors or the fact that Roberto Clemente was one of the greatest players ever seen. While the MLB Pirates fans have their own personal reasons for rooting for the “Buccos” the younger generation can’t be thrilled with their recent performance. Maybe they are waiting for this once proud franchise to return to a leadership role in the Nation League Central. If that ever happens, PA will be turned upside down. They love their Pirates.

Back in the nearly nineties, the Pirates had a run of three years where they made the playoffs. Since then, it’s been one disappointment after another for their fans. This franchise has a rich history dating back to 1882. Their first post season appearance was 1903. Of course, who can forget Pirates' Bill Mazeroski’s heroics against the Yankees in 1960, Obviously this organization has a lot to live up to.

Improved Pirates performances are expected from the young starting staff, including Zach Duke and Paul Maholm. Veterans like Oliver Perez must step up or step aside. It’s time they achieved consistency if not greatness. The much Traveled Victor Santos may help as well. If these guys don’t work out, Pirates youngsters Ian Snell or Ryan Vogelsong may be called upon to grow up fast.
