Chicago Bears Team Info
Once again fans in the Windy City are enjoying their Bears games. Under Lovie Smith the Bears have regained their fearsome defensive personality and will be wreaking havoc on the rest of the NFC North, not to mention the rest of the NFL. The great thing about the 2011 Chicago Bears is that they return most of the starters that made the previous version successful.
Any discussion of the Bears has to start with the defense. The heart of the team, the Bears defense kept half of their opponents under 10 points while six of those teams never found the end zone at all. Chicago gave up only 61 points at home, the lowest total since the NFL went a 16 game schedule in 1978.
If you’ve been attending Bears games over the last few years you’re familiar with the scenario at quarterback. Once again Rex Grossman is coming back from an injury, penciled in as the starter. Grossman has a quick release, can read a defense, and has good leadership qualities. The big question is if he can stay on the field. If not, Lovie Smith assured himself a quality backup by signing Brian Griese. Griese has proven he can win and Smith should breathe easier with him on the Bears roster.
