Florida Panthers Team Info

Although their standings fell slightly below the bar last season, Panthers seats are still a great gift for any hockey fan. Led by Head Coach Jacques Martin, the Panthers have been shopping in the off-season for some new talent. Hopefully, when they skate out onto the ice, fans will see a few more points on the scoreboards.

When the Panthers started off in the 1993-94 NHL season, they had the most successful season of any expansion franchise, just falling short of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. However, when they again narrowly missed a playoff spot the following season, Head Coach Roger Neilson was fired and replaced with Doug MacLean. In the off-season, they also picked up Ray Sheppard and made it to the playoffs for the first time in the 1995-96 season. Making it into the postseason was only the beginning of the dream for the Panthers. Going on to defeat the top teams, thy made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals. However, after an enthralling game, the opposition took the series in game four when Uwe Krupp scored the final goal in triple overtime. The next season, the injury plagued Panthers fell far from their outstanding previous season, finishing with their worst record to that point. After that, the Panthers continued to struggle, even after picking up “Russian Rocket” Pavel Bure. Bure carried the team in 2000, scoring 59 points that season, however the team was cast out in the first round.
